All Helpline volunteers participate in a comprehensive training on LGBT concerns, including coming out, gender identity, intimate partner violence, suicide prevention, and much more. Transgender Helpline A representative from Transgender Michigan is available to answer trans-specific questions on our Helpline. Offered every Thursday from 6:30pm-9:00pm. Older Adult and Seniors Helpline A representative from the Older Adult and Senior LGBT community is available to answer questions and offer information about issues important to the Older Adult and Senior community. Offered every Tuesday and Friday from 4:00pm-7:00pm
The Bully Button Initiative Affirmations and the Community Centers Network are working to help educate and empower young people and parents on how to best handle and stop instances of bullying. The bully button will allow parents and young people to report incidents of bullying as they happen. Affirmations' trained helpline staff serve as advocates for youth, families and the school system by utilizing existing partnerships and collaborations and providing resources to educate and empower school faculty and staff.
