Affirmations is proud to serve as metro Detroit’s largest LGBTQ community center and one of the 10 largest LGBT community centers in the country. Affirmations provides a welcoming and inclusive space for metro Detroit's LGBTQ community to grow, learn and feel fully supported.

Recess Café

Whether enjoying a cup of coffee, lunch with a friend, or people watching out of the cafe's floor-to-ceiling windows, the Recess Café is here for you. Free wi-fi is also available.

General Motors Foundation Media Center

The Media Center features the David Bohnett CyberCenter, housing 15 computers with free WiFi for Center users as well as the Bayard Rustin Library, housing one of the largest collections of LGBTQ-specific books and movies in the state.

Carl Rippberger Youth Drop-In Center

The Carl Rippberger Youth Drop-In Center provides a safe place for youth to engage their peers for networking, fun, and learning. The Center is open Fridays and Saturdays, 4p-9p for youth between the ages and 13 and 20 (adults are not allowed in the space unless they are trained adult allies). This Center is equipped with an XBOX 360 and assorted games, pool table, board games, WIFI, Netflix, and much more. The Center also features tutoring, as well as movie and game nights and youth-led discussion groups.

Pittmann-Puckett Gallery

The Gallery is an exhibition and performance space intended for the presentation of work by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender artists. Available to established and emerging artists, especially those whose work speaks to or about the LGBTQ community, the Pittmann-Puckett Art Gallery is a space for artists to exhibit and sell their work. The Gallery features comfortable seating perfect for conversation and quiet contemplation.

Tauber Hyke Memorial Sky Deck

The sky deck is located on the second floor of the center and is open to the public March through October (weather permitting). The Sky Deck provides Center users the opportunity to observe downtown Ferndale in a relaxing, furnished environment.
