Senior Director of Operations

Affirmations, the community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender
(LGBTQ) people and their allies, seeks a Senior Director of Operations.

Job Description:

Affirmations, the community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) people and their allies seeks a Senior Director of Operations. This position is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of the organization utilizing effective methods and strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Manage daily operations of the organization, serving as the center’s internal leader
 Coordinate development of the annual operations plan and center budget
 Develop and execute annual budget for administrative and facility expenses
 Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the center
 Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of support services such as IT, HR, and Finance
 Review financial statements and data, utilizing financial data to improve profitability and assist in insuring the center’s annual operating budget is met
 Instill a human capital development and “coaching” culture within the center; upgrade human resources functions including: training, development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance evaluation and recruiting
 Analyze the current technology infrastructure and scope out the next level of information technology and financial systems that support the growth of specific programs and the center overall
 Formulate policies about the functioning of the center and monitor for adherence
 Make decisions about business policies and manage risks
 Oversee the daily logistics of the center including upkeep and maintenance
 Communicate with the senior management team regarding important issues regularly.
 Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree (min. requirement)
 Three to five years (min.) experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a nonprofit setting
 Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; high level of business acumen including successful P&L management
 Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; a team builder who has experience in scaling up organizations; ability to connect staff both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top-notch leaders from the bottom up, lead from the top down, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed
 Strong ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the
organizational plan
 Broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems and human resources
 Available to work varied shits including evenings and some weekends
 Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
 Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
 Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to quickly learn other computer programs.
 Competence in working non-judgmentally with diverse populations; strong commitment to diversity and
